History

Celestino Mauricio Soto Jr.

History of Celestino Mauricio Soto
Celestino Mauricio Soto Jr. was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1953. From a young age, he demonstrated strong leadership, discipline, and a heart for service. During his high school years at Crozier Tech High School, Celestino excelled in the ROTC military program, participated in the marching band, and was an active member of the swim team. He also spent his summers giving back to the community by working with children at the West Dallas Boys Club.

After graduating high school in 1970, Celestino earned a degree from Mountain View College before enlisting in the United States Navy. His military career included service aboard three U.S. Navy aircraft carriers: the USS America, USS Independence, and USS Eisenhower. Upon completing his active duty in 1980, he continued to serve his country through four years in the Naval Reserves and twelve years in the Army National Guard.

Celestino and his wife, Patsy, married young and raised a large family of eight children, three of whom were diagnosed with autism. This personal experience led Celestino to become deeply involved in advocating for children with disabilities. He dedicated himself to learning about autism and supporting the needs of children with disabilities and mental health challenges. His passion for service extended into the community through his faithful volunteer work with Dallas ISD, the Special Olympics, and other child-focused organizations.

Celestino Mauricio Soto Jr. passed away in July 2002, but his legacy of service, compassion, and leadership continues to inspire the students, staff, and families of the school that proudly bears his name.
